About Us

Get ready to party with the oldest all female Mardi Gras organization in Jefferson Parish! It's time to join in the fun as we bring the Carnival spirit back to the streets of Kenner. Let's paint the town purple, green, and gold.

Be a part of history and revel in the traditions that make us unique. Decorate some bras and buy your throws! Let your wild side out and ride along with the Krewe of Isis. Come one, come all, the celebration awaits!

Our History

In 1972, Joyce Blondeau and a group of Jefferson Parish formed an all-women’s Mardi Gras organization called the Krewe of Athania, a name which means “powerful women.” After a year under this name, the organization changed its name to the Krewe of Isis and has operated under this name ever since. The krewe was captained by Blondeau until 2012, followed by Sherrell Gorman and now Kristin Bertucci. The Krewe of Isis first started parading in Kenner in 1973 before taking the standard Veterans Memorial Boulevard route in Jefferson Parish. However, we returned to Kenner in 2020, which hadn’t held a regular parade since 1992.

Our Members

Over 250 women from all walks of life are members of the Krewe of Isis, making us the largest

female krewe in Jefferson Parish. We are a sisterhood of strong women who like to laissez les bon temps rouler. We meet monthly on the first Wednesday of the month at the Metairie Lions Club (1627 Metairie Road),
and we’d love for you to join us!
